SSU declares deputy editor-in-chief of Vechernyaya moskva suspect

The SSU has collected evidence against former Vinnytsia journalist Yulia Tarapata, who is currently a deputy editor-in-chief of the Vechernyaya moskva (Evening moscow) newspaper.

Based on the evidence collected, SSU investigators notified Tarapata of suspicion under Article 111-1.6 of the CCU (collaboration in the form of information activities in cooperation with the aggressor state and its occupation administration).

According to the investigation, after the seizure of Crimea and parts of Ukraine’s eastern regions in 2014 she moved to russia and got a job at the pro-kremlin newspaper Vechernyaya moskva.

Subsequently, for her public support of russian occupiers and preparation of anti-Ukrainian publications, the ‘journalist’ was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of the moscow media outlet.

In this position, she also coordinates the ‘moscow authorities’ editorial department and writes a blog on the newspaper’s website.

Since February 24, 2022, the deputy editor has been following the kremlin’s instructions and disseminating publications justifying russia’s armed aggression and denying the occupiers’ involvement in the massacres of civilians in Kyiv oblast.

The collaborator calls the torture chambers and mass graves in Bucha and Irpin ‘staged’.

For this, Tarapata regularly receives awards from the kremlin and moscow city administration.

The SSU-initiated examinations confirmed the facts of the suspect’s subversive activities against Ukraine.

The offender is currently in russia. The efforts to bring her to justice for crimes against Ukraine are underway.

Tarapata is facing up to 12 years in prison.

The SSU Office in Vinnytsia region is investigating the case under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
