SSU serves notice of suspicion to traitor who joined ‘Storm’ occupation unit to kill Ukrainians
The SSU has collected evidence on another militant of russian occupation groupings, who fought against Ukraine’s Defence Forces on the eastern front.
The militant was detained by the SSU Military Counterintelligence and the Defence Forces during a counter-offensive near Bakhmut in July this year.
The detained individual is a native of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, who shortly before the start of russia’s full-scale invasion moved to Stavropol krai, russia.
On 24 June 2022, he voluntarily signed a contract for military service in the ‘Storm’ group of the 79th motorised rifle regiment of the russian armed forces.
As a mechanic-driver, he took an active part in warfare against the Defence Forces near Berkhivka village, Bakhmut district.
To slow down Ukraine’s counter-offensive, the traitor also set up enemy checkpoints and fortifications around the aggressor’s combat positions.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the militant a notice of suspicion under Article 111.2 of the CCU (high treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is in custody, facing life imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.
The SSU is investigating the criminal proceeding under the procedural supervision of Donetsk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
