SSU declares UOC-MP cleric-jeweller suspect: the priest sells gold items from Luhansk region to russia

The SSU has documented the unlawful activity of Serhii Gutenko, a rector of a church of moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the temporarily occupied Luhansk.

In addition to his church dignity, the suspect has a controlled jewellery company that supplies its products to the aggressor state.

Among the cleric’s regular clients are the russian orthodox church clergy, who buy precious gold and silver items for their collections and for decorating diocesan premises.

He also produces jewellery insignia for russian occupation troops and the FSB.

Gutenko’s company regularly finances the budget of the aggressor state by paying ‘taxes’ to the occupation administration of gauleiter Pasichnyk.

According to the investigation, after the occupation of part of Luhansk region, the entrepreneur was one of the first to re-register the company in line with russian ‘legislation’.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, Gutenko expanded the sale of jewellery in russia and the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified him of suspicion in absentia under Article 111-1.4 of the CCU (collaboration).

Efforts to bring the suspect to justice are underway.

The investigation is carried out by the SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
