SBU opposes hostile information operations
SBU cyber specialists blocked the extensive network of agitprops who disseminated information via the Internet to the detriment of Ukraine's state security. The offenders tried to destabilize the situation in different regions on the eve of the May holidays.
In the city of Kyiv, the SBU exposed a native of Donetsk region who called for the seizure of state power and joining the IAFs. He posted information on several accounts on social networks.
During the searches of the offender’s residence, law enforcement officers found computer equipment and electronic media with evidence of illegal activities.
He is currently received a suspicion notice of public appeals to violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or take-over of government, and dissemination of materials with any appeals to commit any such actions.
In addition, the investigators served suspicion notices of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine to two Internet agitators from Chernihiv and Volyn regions. The offenders agitated for actions aimed at changing the state border of Ukraine.
Due to the SBU investigation, the court found guilty two agitprops from Volyn and Sumy regions of public appeals to violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or take-over of government, and also dissemination of materials with any appeals to commit any such actions; trespass against territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
It was established that they spread information with anti-Ukrainian calls on the Internet. The offenders used information from Russian propaganda publications and IAF websites.
SBU cyber specialists continue to work actively to identify, document and neutralize hostile information operations, as well as to prosecute participants of this illegal activity.
