Vinnytsia region: SSU conducts anti-terrorist drills near border areas

In Vinnytsya region, the SSU conducted multi-stage anti-terrorist drills near border areas.

SSU eliminated the members of sabotage and reconnaissance groups targeted at explosion of the Dnipro river system of dams’facilities and planned to escape to the self-proclaimed Transnistria trespassing the state boarder.

According to the training legend, the so-called saboteurs aimed at provoking the emergency situation in the region.

SSU detained one of the sabotage groups near their cache red handed while attempting to get close to the facility.

Another sabotage group failed to mine the critical infrastructure, then took persons in hostage and made claims to the state leadership.

During the negotiations and common anti-drills measures, the SSU distracted the sabotage group attention and eliminated them. All hostages were released.

The drills key task was to search for and eliminate simultaneously a few sabotage groups near border areas at night time. It provided to simulate extremely complicated and close to real conditions anti-terrorist drills.

The exercises are attended by regional SSU units, the National Police, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service as well as the representatives of executive authorities and local governments.

The Coordination Group of the Anti-Terrorist Center of the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region estimated the units involved to reach the aims of drills:

  • checked the readiness level of regional units to counter terrorist threats;
  • successfully accomplished the algorithm of interdepartmental cooperation to counteract sabotage and terrorist threats.
