The SSU conducted anti-terrorist exercise in the JFO area, in Mariupol, Donetsk region.

According to the exercise scenario, terrorists attempt to rescue their accomplice, a LNR/DNR militant from a pre-trial detention centre. To do this, one of the perpetrators poses as a lawyer, enters the detention centre and brings an explosive device.

‘Terrorists’ take hostages and state their demands, including providing them with a helicopter to flee to the occupied territory of Donetsk region.

Special purpose teams of security agencies successfully conducted their phase of the training – took down terrorists, freed hostages and prevented a terrorist attack.

The exercise was conducted in the close to real life conditions.

According to the assessment of the Antiterrorist Centre at the SSU, the participants effectively exercised algorithms of counterterrorism interagency cooperation in the JFO area.

The regional offices of the SSU, the National Police, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Emergency, local government authorities took part in the exercise.
