SBU conducts anti-terror exercise (video)

The SBU held special exercise in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The SBU operatives neutralized simulated groups of saboteurs that planned to blow up a strategic facility at a military airfield.

Another task of the simulated terrorists was to commit a terrorist attack in one of the city councils in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The training was conducted in near-real conditions.

According to the exercise script, three groups of saboteurs one by one came to Ukraine in order to blow up the defense facility and the local government. To carry out the tasks, the terrorists’ facilitators set up caches with weapons, explosives and military equipment to disguise themselves as Ukrainian soldiers.

The SBU officers exposed two groups of saboteurs at the approaches to the airport and in the district centre, where they were planning a terrorist attack at the city council. The third group was neutralized by special forces on the territory of the military airfield.

Among the participants of the anti-terror exercise were units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, and the National Police. In addition, ATO / JFO veterans were involved in the organization of the exercise.

The Coordination Group noted that the exercise participants successfully worked out the algorithms of interdepartmental cooperation on prevention of subversive and terrorist threats.
