The Regional Coordination Group of the SBU Anti-Terrorist Center conducted planned multi-stage anti-terrorist drills in six districts of Kherson region.

There are a number of terrorist-vulnerable and strategically important critical infrastructure facilities of the region in selected locations, including a military facility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, Kakhovka navigation lock and the North Crimean Canal facilities.

The employees of the SBU Main Directorate in AR of Crimea, the National and Patrol Police, the State Emergency Service, the National Guard and the State Border Guard Service, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the representatives of executive authorities and local government took part in the drills.

The main purpose of the drills was to increase the level of interdepartmental interaction of the leading actors in the fight against terrorism, the organization and implementation of measures within the anti-terrorist operation to counter possible sabotage at potentially dangerous facilities.

During the drills, the conditional saboteurs tried to commit a number of sabotage and terrorism acts at strategic facilities in Kherson region due to illegal invasion into the facilities and mining of premises and equipment.

Thus, the level of protection of critical infrastructure facilities, readiness of their administrations, security and guard services, local law enforcement units, special services and other paramilitary units to respond to emergency events and eliminate the consequences of possible terrorist attacks were checked.

Based on the drills results, the ATC Coordination Group is providing appropriate methodological recommendations to improve the protection systems, as well as taking control over the elimination of the identified weak points, taking into account the specifics of the activities of each facility.
