SSU conducts information campaign ‘Burn the FSB-man’ to counteract recruitment of youth by russian intelligence (video)
The Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Police continues the nationwide information campaign Burn the FSB-man. It is aimed at countering the recruitment of young people by russian special services, preventing arsons, terrorist attacks and sabotage.
The crimes such as arson of property of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, government institutions or bomb threats in relation to these objects are qualified under the Criminal Code of Ukraine as terrorism or sabotage. These crimes entail severe criminal liability, even for minors.
Part of our campaign is the social video Burn the FSB-man, prepared by the SSU together with the famous Ukrainian film director Liubomyr Levytskyi. The video informs citizens, including young people, about the inevitability of punishment for such crimes. The russian intelligence services are actively targeting minors on the Internet, offering criminal ‘jobs’.
In 2024, the SSU and the National Police detained more than 450 persons who were involved in arson attacks in Ukraine on orders of their russian handlers. In fact, Ukrainian law enforcement finds all the perpetrators of the crimes. And instead of ‘easy money’, the individuals involved receive suspicion notices from the SSU and a prospect of imprisonment.
The video shows the story of two teenagers, a boy and a girl, who agreed to the offer of their handlers from russia’s FSB to commit a crime but were detained by the Ukrainian Security Service.
With the key message ‘Don’t burn your own! ‘Burn’ the enemy!’, the SSU calls on young people to report any recruitment attempts to a special chatbot Burn the FSB-man - t.me/spaly_fsb_bot.
To do this, it is enough to provide details of enemy offers, as well as the phone number or nickname of the person who was recruiting you for a crime. The provided information is confidential and is carefully checked by the SSU. The data obtained will help the Service to counter russia’s intelligence and sabotage activities even more effectively.
As of today, this chatbot, which was launched in mid-December 2024, has already received more than 1,300 reports. All of them concerned attempts by russian special services to involve Ukrainians in committing various crimes to destabilize the situation in our country and reduce its defence capabilities.
