The SBU documents activity of an illegal village council in Mykolayiv region. Creation of the fake council was initiated by a local supporter of the of the so-called rule of people ideology to destabilize the social and political situation in the region.

SBU officers established that the offender organized a meeting of locals, who illegally elected him a village head. According to handlers, he prepared documents in order to legalize the self-government body. In addition, he posted messages about his activities in the social media.

According to the pre-trial investigation, the offender, in particular, took part in the All-Ukrainian National Congress in December 2020, Kyiv, aimed to create a system of parallel authorities in Ukraine.

During searches, law enforcement officers seized a seal “State of Ukraine. Local government”. The offender used it in correspondence with state institutions of Ukraine.

Within the criminal proceedings initiated for unauthorized assignment of power, the issue of serving the offender a suspicion notice is being resolved.

The operation was conducted jointly with investigators of the National Police under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.

To remind, the SBU prevented anti-Ukrainian activities related to creation of illegal state authorities, coordinated from abroad.
