SBU blocks illegal sale of specialized software
The SBU officers exposed and blocked the illegal activities of the group working for an IT company in Kyiv.
The perpetrators organized the illegal sale of specialized software to receive information from computers and telecommunications remotely.
The programs allowed to freely collect and transmit information about the actions of users, including the data transmitted though such messengers as Vk, Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram or e-mail resources.
Allegedly, the perpetrators sold this software to private sector entities under the guise of preventing the leakage of sensitive information. They also planned to implement it for public sector institutions.
According to forensic examinations, the software is recognized as special technology for secret obtaining of information.
During the searches in the office of the IT company, draft records, correspondence and documents with the evidence of the illegal activity were exposed and seized.
Two officers are currently served the suspicion notice for the illegal use of special technology for secret obtaining of information.
The operation was carried out by the SBU Department of Cyber Security jointly with the Main Investigation Department under the supervision of Prosecutor General's Office.
