SSU: Russian special services try to infiltrate Ukrainian Territorial Defence (video)
In Volyn region, the SSU Counterintelligence prevented sabotage by exposing a spy, one of the FSB’s ‘sleeper agents’, who was trying to join local Territorial Defence Unit.
In the past, this agent served in the Berkut and was a security guard of a top official in Ukraine. In 2014, he fled to Russia.
In early 2022, FSB handlers instructed the traitor to come to Ukraine and lie low in Volyn. The day before the invasion, he was told to get ready and wait for further instructions.
One of the instructions was to join local territorial defence.
The SSU Counterintelligence stopped the agent in time and prevented sabotage. The items seized from the detainee include machine guns, a rifle, a pistol and ammunition.
The Russian spy has been notified of suspicion of crimes under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and was taken into custody.
