Luhansk region: SBU initiates pre-trial investigation of terrorist attack in village of Khutir Vilny
The SBU investigators initiated a pre-trial investigation upon the fact of death of a Luhansk region resident. He died due to explosion of a remote mine set by IAF.
According to preliminary data, terrorists conducted remote installation of POM-2 mines on the territory of a residential sector in Khutir Vilny, Sievierodonetsk district. A local resident was killed when one of the mines exploded in the yard of a private house.
During the examination of the scene, the law enforcement officers seized fragments of POM-2 to attach them to the materials of the relevant criminal proceedings.
The pre-trial investigation is to be conducted under the supervision of Luhansk Region Prosecutor’s Office.
Note:
POM-2 - anti-personnel trip-wire operated fragmentation mine, manufactured in the USSR and Russia. It is set up by means of remote mining only. The use of this means of destruction is prohibited under the Ottawa Treaty of December 3, 1997 on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction.
