SSU launches criminal investigation into shelling of humanitarian convoy on outskirts of Zaporizhzhia

The SSU is investigating this new war crime of russia under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of laws and customs of war.

The heavy shelling of the humanitarian convoy once again shows that russia purposefully chooses civilian rather than military facilities as its targets.

According to the investigation, on September 30, 2022, around 7:30 a.m., ruscists fired at civilians who were waiting in a humanitarian convoy to leave the regional center.

These people were going to their relatives in the occupied territory: carrying humanitarian aid or seeking to take them to Ukraine-controlled territory.

At least 25 people were killed and about 50 wounded as the result of the strike.

‘No matter how much russia shows its beastly grin, it will definitely have to answer for what it’s done. Therefore, we not only beat the enemy on the battlefield, but also carefully document the crimes, committed by the occupiers, collect testimonies, analyze classified information - the entire array of evidence will be the subject of consideration in international courts after Ukraine’s victory. We will not forgive the enemy a single victim. There is no statute of limitations for such crimes!’ the Acting SSU Head Vasyl Malyuk noted.
