The SSU has detained another collaborator involved in russia’s sham elections in the temporarily occupied territory in southern Ukraine in September this year.

The woman in question visited private homes and urged local residents to ‘vote’ in favour of the kremlin’s ‘candidate’ for the occupation ‘legislative assembly of Zaporizhzhia region of the russian federation’.

To collect the ‘required votes’, she was accompanied by armed invaders who threatened people with machine guns if they refused to participate in the fake plebiscite.

For cooperating with the occupiers, the collaborator received USD 5,000 as a one-time monetary reward.

She also received a ‘pass’ for free movement in the temporarily occupied area.

The SSU documented the criminal actions and detained the suspect when she arrived in Vinnytsia oblast to hide the money received from the aggressor at her relatives’ place.

According to the investigation, the collaborator is a resident of Chernihivka district, Zaporizhzhia region, who supported the ruscists after the occupation.

In return, the invaders offered her to become ‘secretary’ of the local russian ‘election commission’.

For ‘retraining’, the ‘secretary’ was sent to a course on ‘organization of an election commission’s activities’. Subsequently, she received a ‘certificate of the russian centre for electoral technologies training’ at the central election commission of the aggressor state.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.5 of the CCU (collaboration, participation in organization and conduct of unlawful elections and/or referenda in the temporarily occupied territory).

The suspect is in custody, facing up to 10 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zaporizhzhia region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
