SSU investigates over 1,600 cases on collaboration, 420 accused await court verdicts
Since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, SSU investigators have opened more than 1,600 criminal proceedings under the Article of the CCU ‘collaborative activity’. Case files with evidence of treason and collaboration with the enemy on the part of 420 individuals are already in courts: in the nearest future these citizens will be sentenced to well-deserved punishment.
SSU spokesman Artem Dekhtyarenko spoke about this at a briefing of Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine.
‘Following investigations by the SSU, about 420 suspects, on whom our investigators collected evidence of collaboration and treason, will soon receive court sentences. Depending on the degree of guilt, they will have to spend up to 15 years or the rest of their lives behind bars,’ said Dekhtyarenko.
According to him, since February 24, SSU investigators have been conducting pre-trial investigations in total of over 32,000 criminal proceedings under the Articles of the CCU within the SSU’s jurisdiction.
Most of them pertain to atrocities and violations of laws and customs of war committed by occupiers.
‘If you count by days, SSU investigators open 160 new criminal proceedings every day. That is, every hour the SSU exposes at least 6 crimes against Ukraine. This number speaks for itself,’ the SSU spokesman added.
In addition, the SSU has at its disposal lists, identification data and all necessary information on each collaborator.
‘The SSU reminds that the statute of limitations does not apply to crimes against foundations of national statehood. So, sooner or later every culprit will be held to account in line with the law,’ Artem Dekhtyarenko summarized.
