Every day SSU eliminates enemy agent networks, detects spies and saboteurs

From now on, the punishment for those who committed treason or sabotage under martial law has become even more severe - up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. The amendments to Articles 111 and 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine have entered into force.

Over the past 24 hours, the SSU uncovered several of these crimes.

In Transcarpathian region:

The SSU detained a native of the so-called DNR who spied for the occupier and publicly supported Russian aggression.

When the invasion began he recorded a video for a Russian TV channel. After that, he started to collect and pass on to the enemy information on the location of Ukrainian military in Kharkiv. After he informed the aggressor, one of Ukrainian units was shelled.

Later, the Russian informant came to Uzhgorod to lie low and wait for further instructions, but was captured by the SSU.

In Kharkiv region:

The SSU detained another enemy agent, a Russian citizen.

A few years ago, this individual in his hometown, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, embezzled budget funds allocated for road construction. To evade criminal responsibility, he agreed to cooperate with the FSB.

When Russia invaded Ukraine, the agent was visiting his mother in Kyiv.

The FSB immediately contacted him and instructed to gather intelligence on coordinates of checkpoints on key highways in Ukraine, number of personnel and weapons.

In Donetsk region:

The law enforcement detained a 23-year-old local. He collected and passed to the enemy information on the forces and capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and movement of military equipment.

The SSU established that the spy handed over the intelligence to a relative - a former militant of the so-called DNR, who moved to Russia in 2016.

Through messenger apps, he sent photos with the location, stationing and movement of Ukrainian military equipment as well as tags on the maps with the precise location.

The intelligence was used by the occupying forces in planning of the offensive and terrorist operations.

In Kyiv:

Following the SSU investigation, a resident of Kyiv was notified of suspicion of treason. He was recruited by the so-called Ministry of State Security of LNR.

The SSU established that the agent passed to his supervisor the information on former and current SSU officers and tried to recruit Ukrainians to work for Russia.

In Dnipropetrovsk region:

The SSU exposed a resident of Dnipro who helped the occupiers. He found his ‘employers’ on a Telegram channel. His ‘job’ was to photograph checkpoints in the region and put them on Google maps.

After sending a screenshot with a completed task to ‘customers’, he expected to receive USD 75.

However, the SSU detained the spy when he tried to withdraw money from his bank card.

He has been notified of suspicion and taken into custody.
