SSU and SBI detain chiefs of russian torture chamber that operated during Kherson’s occupation
As a result of stabilization efforts in the liberated Kherson, the SSU jointly with the State Bureau of Investigations exposed another four traitors.
One of the detained individuals is the former deputy head of a local correctional facility, who supported russian invaders during Kherson’s temporary occupation.
After the seizure of the penitentiary institution, he voluntarily collaborated with the aggressor and agreed to join the leadership of the ‘department of the penitentiary service in Kherson region’ created by ruscists.
While in this ‘position’, the collaborator organized the illegal detention of abducted Ukrainians in the prison cells.
The victims were subjected to psychological pressure, torture and death threats.
In this way, the invaders were fulfilling the kremlin’s orders to suppress resistance in Kherson oblast.
The other collaborator is the chief of the ‘unit for communal, quartermaster and economic support’ of the russian prison.
The ‘official’ was responsible for supplying food for the administration of the occupation entity.
Another traitor used to work in Kherson pre-trial detention center and after February 24 last year agreed to the occupiers’ offer to join the ‘colony security unit’.
Serving there, he and another collaborator participated in punitive raids against locals who resisted the invaders.
Currently, the four collaborators have been notified of suspicion under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law);
- 111-1.7 (collaboration).
The court has already chosen custody as a measure of restraint for three of the suspects.
The investigation is ongoing to bring all those involved in crimes against Ukraine to justice.
The SSU carried out the operation jointly with the State Bureau of Investigation and the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
