SBU jointly with National Police releases 13 hostages in Lutsk and detains terrorist

Officers of the SBU Special Operations Center “A” jointly with the National Police released 13 hostages in Lutsk and detained an armed terrorist who hijacked a Krasnylivka-Berestechko bus in downtown.

Due to the special operation “Boomerang” of the SBU Anti-Terrorist Center, law enforcement officers managed to avoid casualties among the civilian population.
It has been established that the terrorist is Maksym Kryvosh, who propagated extremist views.

All hostages have been released so far, no one has been injured.

“I thank every employee of the Center for Special Operations “A” and the SBU Anti-Terrorist Center, all law enforcement officers for their prompt response and cooperation. Your professional actions saved 13 lives. People are safe and this is the most important thing,” said the SBU Head Ivan Bakanov.

He reminded that in the first half of 2020, the SBU had already prevented
three terrorist attacks. Therefore, the SBU pays special attention to the fight against terrorism.

“Unfortunately, this is the today’s reality of our country. It is due to various factors, including war in the east and the Russian influence on the situation in Ukraine. However, we are doing best to systematically counter any terrorism manifestations. This is one of the main SBU activities, and we intensify our work in this direction. Every Ukrainian should feel safe and move freely through the streets of cities and towns,” added Ivan Bakanov.

The Head of the Security Service of Ukraine praised the coordination of all the law enforcement agencies involved in hostage rescue.
