SSU and Academy of Sciences agree on cooperation and coordination in interests of state security

The Security Service and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine have agreed to cooperate and coordinate activities in the interests of state security. For this purpose, the SSU Head Ivan Bakanov and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoliy Zagorodniy signed a Memorandum on cooperation.

‘Our cooperation in countering emerging threats will be not only theoretical, but also practical. After all, scientific and technical sphere can also be a target of subversive attempts of hostile intelligence services or can suffer due to leakage of classified information. Therefore, state security will benefit from our partnership,’ Ivan Bakanov remarked.

‘The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine has maintained its scientific and staff capacity and is able to provide scientific support for economic, scientific and technical, socio-cultural development of the country. There are all preconditions for this. Signing of the Memorandum will definitely deepen cooperation between us,’ Anatoliy Zagorodniy highlighted.

The SSU and the Academy plan to cooperate on information exchange, scientific and technical examinations, analysis on security issues, preparation of proposals for the leadership of the state, etc.

Additionally, the partners can establish joint expert and working groups, including on development of draft regulations.

The implementation of this Memorandum will contribute to detection, prevention and neutralization of current and potential threats.
