SSU and SBI carry out searches across entire Customs Service vertical
Today, the SSU and the SBI, in coordination with the General Prosecutor’s Office, are conducting a large-scale special operation.
Searches have started at the Central Office of the State Customs Service of Ukraine and at Volyn, Zhytomyr, Lviv, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Odesa, Kyiv, Rivne and Zakarpattia regional customs.
The SSU has identified about 50 economic entities that helped customs officials implement illegal schemes. Presently, their operation has been blocked. Law enforcement officers are working at sites along Ukraine’s state border and at check points to stop the unlawful activity and shut down smuggling schemes.
After the initial investigative steps are completed, we will provide a more detailed report on corruption committed by officials of the State Customs Service and its regional branches.
