SSU and NABU, with assistance of Defence Minister and AFU Commander-in-Chief, expose officials who ‘overpaid’ UAH 27 mln for procurement of aircraft spare parts

The SSU Counterintelligence and NABU detectives have uncovered the corrupt activities of two officials of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the case, the officials entered into contracts for the purchase of aircraft spare parts for Ukrainian combat aircraft in 2022-2023, which caused losses to Ukraine’s budget amounting to UAH 27.3 mln.

The MoD officials purchased spare parts at an unreasonably high cost from a controlled intermediary company.

To win the tender, they involved several other affiliated companies, including those with foreign registration.

In this way, an appearance of competition was created, under the guise of which a contract was secured with the ‘right’ company.

Then, the participants of the fraud diverted the ‘excess profit’ into shadow through a network of controlled companies.

Based on the evidence, both officials have been notified of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 364.2 of the CCU (abuse of power or position, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).

The court is to decide on a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing.

The suspects face up to 6 years in prison.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
