SSU and NABU detain current MP’s head of security

The SSU Counterintelligence and NABU detectives detained the head of personal security of one of members of Ukrainian parliament. He is suspected of illegal possession of ammunition. Several hand grenades and rounds for rifled firearms were seized from him.

This individual was close to a fugitive current MP involved in spying for russian special services. In particular, this people’s deputy oversaw the establishment of several private security companies in various regions to facilitate a quick takeover of Ukraine.

The law enforcement found and seized materials from the head of personal security that confirm long-term subversive activities of the MP against Ukraine and his connection to the aggressor state and collaborators.

After a detailed study of the discovered items, a proper legal assessment will be given to the actions of the elected official and his accomplices.

Currently, a notice of suspicion is prepared for the detainee under Article 263.1 of the CCU (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). The court is to choose the type of detention.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Counterintelligence together with NABU detectives under the procedural supervision of the SAPO.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in line with the procedure defined by law and established by a relevant court’s verdict.
