SSU and National Police recommend Hasidic pilgrims to refrain from visiting Ukraine this year for Rosh HaShanah celebration
This decision was made jointly with Israeli law enforcement agencies and Ukrainian authorities. This is due to a high probability of missile attacks and russia’s actions aimed at destabilizing international relations and harming Ukraine’s international image.
For a timely and comprehensive response, the law enforcement are carefully analysing the available information on possible threats to the pilgrims’ stay in Ukraine.
Currently, efforts are focused on the anti-terrorist security of pilgrimage sites and routes of believers’ movement. To this end, counter-sabotage and anti-terrorist measures are carried out on an ongoing basis, preventive measures regarding illicit circulation of weapons and dangerous substances have been strengthened, the pilgrimage area and adjacent territories are under 24-hour video surveillance, etc.
However, despite all security measures, russia can use the arrival and mass gathering of pilgrims to carry out provocations.
Therefore, in view of the above information, please refrain from traveling to Ukraine. And those who still dare to make the pilgrimage must strictly comply with the security measures: curfew, response to air-raid alerts, as well as follow all instructions of law enforcement officials. Only in this way it is possible to minimize the existing risks for believers on this important holiday for the Jewish people.
