SSU and National Police hand over to AFU 3,500 air defence components seized from clandestine warehouses in Kyiv region

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, have transferred a large batch of heavy weapons components to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

These are more than 3,500 components for air defence missile and artillery systems, as well as engines for armoured vehicles.

The equipment was seized from two clandestine hangars uncovered by the law enforcement agencies in Kyiv oblast.

According to the investigation, the illegal warehouses belonged to the top management of a local company selling specialized equipment for rocket and artillery weapons and armoured vehicles.

The company intended to sell the parts as products that were not accounted for, without entering the data in the reporting documentation.

Due to the SSU’s prompt response, the scheme was uncovered and shut down.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 191.5 of the CCU (misappropriation, embezzlement or seizure of property through abuse of office).

In August 2023, there was another case of fraud involving the same company officials. Then, they attempted to sell 80 tank engines to the AFU at a price three times too high.

The suspects face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
