SSU and National Police avert assassination of First Deputy Minister of Healthcare

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have prevented the murder of the First Deputy Minister of Health. As a result of the operation, two individuals who were going to kill the official have been apprehended.

The suspects were caught ‘red-handed’ when they tried to transfer money for the purchase of firearms for the killing.

According to the investigation, these are two residents of Kyiv region. They had been following the First Deputy Minister for several months, studying his daily routine and travel routes.

To eliminate the official with a pistol, for a long time they were visiting a private shooting range to practice their shooting skills.

Next, they began looking for a black-market arms dealer but were detained by the SSU and the National Police after transferring money for the gun.

The detained have been notified of suspicion under Articles 14.1, 115.1 of the CCU (premeditated murder).

The decision on a measure of restraint is pending.

The suspects face up to 15 years in prison.

The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
