SSU and National Police detain enemy agent who planted explosives near AFU veteran’s house

In Kharkiv, the SSU and the National Police detained an agent of russian intelligence services who carried out a terrorist attack in the city at the end of January this year.

Then, the woman helped the occupiers detonate explosives near the private house of an Armed Forces veteran.

For secrecy, the perpetrator wore wigs, and after the attack, tried to destroy all the clothes she wore during the preparation of the explosion.

However, this did not help her. The SSU Counterintelligence apprehended the terrorist in her apartment.

The attacker is a 38-year-old local unemployed woman who was recruited by russian special services remotely after her anti-Ukrainian comments on Telegram channels.

The agent was then instructed by her handler to take an improvised explosive device from a cache and plant it in a buried car tyre near the veteran’s house.

She also installed a camouflaged mobile phone in front of his yard.

Through remote access to this device, the enemy tracked the victim’s movements and remotely activated the IED.

During the searches, the SSU seized the mobile phone with an anonymous chat in the messenger, where the woman was texting with her russian handler.

SSU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Article 258.2 of the CCU (terrorist act that led to grave consequences).

The suspect is in custody without bail and faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kharkiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
