SSU and National Police detain two groups of arsonists who acted on russian orders in Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions

The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have apprehended another four agents of russian intelligence who committed arson attacks on Ukrainian railways in Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions.

Relay cabinets on the railway lines were the enemy’s priority targets.

The occupiers hoped that by burning this equipment, they would disrupt the supply of weapons and ammunition to the frontline.

To carry out the arsons, the russian intelligence hired local residents who were looking for ‘easy money’ on Telegram channels.

In Kharkiv region:

two saboteurs were detained ‘red-handed’ after they tried to burn down a railway traffic light battery cabinet at night.

The perpetrators were tracking the schedule before the attempt, hoping to block the movement of as many trains as possible.

The law enforcement documented their criminal actions and detained them after they tried to set fire to the railway equipment.

In Cherkasy region:

A contract-soldier, who had deserted from a military unit and was hiding in the region and committing arsons on russia’s orders, has been apprehended.

He involved his friend, a local unemployed resident, in the sabotage.

The group tried to destroy eight relay cabinets of signalling installations on strategically important railway routes.

They have now been notified of suspicion under Article 28.2, 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed during martial law, by a group, upon prior conspiracy).

The suspects are in custody and face life imprisonment.

The operations were carried out by the SSU Offices in Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor’s offices.
