SSU and National Police detain two repeat offenders who committed arsons in Kyiv and Prykarpattia regions on russia’s orders
The SSU and the National Police detained another two accomplices of russian intelligence services who carried out arson attacks in several regions of Ukraine.
Their targets were post offices, vehicles of the Defence Forces and relay cabinets on Ukrainian railways in Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
For the attacks, the occupiers remotely recruited two repeat offenders who, after serving time for drug trafficking and theft, were looking for money on Telegram.
During the arsons, the perpetrators used flammable mixtures, and the fires were recorded on phone cameras for a report to their russian handlers.
In Kyiv region:
A 28-year-old drug addict from Berezan was detained for burning down a local branch of a private postal service.
He also intended to destroy several other administrative buildings in the community but was uncovered by the law enforcement.
In Prykarpattia region:
The sabotage actions of a 40-year-old offender who burned down an Armed Forces vehicle have been documented. In the past, the perpetrator had served a term in prison.
After the detention, the investigation also established his involvement in the arson of a heating cabinet for a switch on an important railway line.
Based on the evidence, both individuals have been notified of suspicion (in accordance with the crimes committed) under two Articles of the CCU:
- 113.2 (sabotage, committed under martial law);
- 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property).
The suspects are in custody.
The operations were carried out under the procedural supervision of Ivano-Frankivsk Region Prosecutor’s Office and Brovary District Prosecutor’s Office.
