SSU and National Police detain group of minors who burned railway facilities in Chernihiv region on russia’s orders
The SSU and the National Police have apprehended a group of arsonists who destroyed relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways] in Chernihiv oblast on russia’s orders.
According to the investigation, the occupiers acted through a 15-year-old resident of Nizhyn district. The young man was looking for easy money on Telegram channels and in this way came to the attention of russian intelligence services.
Following the enemy instructions, he involved two classmates and another minor in the sabotage.
The teenagers first established the geolocation of railway equipment and then set it on fire using a flammable mixture.
In this way, the perpetrators damaged a relay cabinet which is critical for safe movement of trains on a strategically important section of the railroad.
The law enforcement detained all four arsonists in hot pursuit, and instead of money from russia, they face life imprisonment.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators served the detained individuals notices of suspicion under Articles 28.2, 113.2 of the CCU (sabotage, committed by a group, under martial law).
The suspects are in custody.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Chernihiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Chernihiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
