Foreigner who set fire to military SUV in Vinnytsia on FSB orders detained by SSU and National Police
In Vinnytsia, the SSU and the National Police have detained a foreign national who on the FSB’s instructions was preparing a new series of arson attacks on Defense Forces vehicles.
The aggressor was interested in the service vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine which had been at the front and were now undergoing maintenance in the city.
For the attacks, the russian service engaged its agent from a neighbouring country.
For the russian money, the foreigner agreed to set fire to vehicles of Ukrainian defenders in Vinnytsia.
After arriving in the city, he stayed with his local acquaintance and then went in search of military vehicles.
To find them, the perpetrator arrived at night at a service station, where an SUV of Ukrainian defenders was located.
First, he took a photo of the potential target to get ‘approval’ from his russian handler.
Then, following the FSB’s instructions, the man bought two canisters of petrol and set fire to the military vehicle.
To get additional ‘payment’ from the occupiers, he also filmed the fire on his phone.
The FSB planned to use this video for info- and psyops to undermine the internal situation in the border region.
After committing the crime, the agent was to continue a series of arsons in the city.
The SSU detained the offender in hot pursuit and seized from him homemade incendiary mixture, mobile phones and bank cards with evidence of his cooperation with the aggressor.
SSU investigators served the detained individual a notice of suspicion under Article 114-1.1 of the CCU (obstructing the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations).
The suspect is in custody and faces up to 8 years in prison.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Vinnytsia region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
