SSU and National Police detain collaborator who helped occupiers imprison Ukrainians in Zaporizhzhia region

The SSU and the National Police have prevented a collaborator’s escape from Ukraine. The traitor was a member of the occupation ‘russian ministry of internal affairs’ in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia oblast and was involved in abducting and imprisoning local members of the resistance movement.

The SSU Counterintelligence detained the suspect in Lviv, where he arrived covertly, planning to cross to the EU.

According to the investigation, the perpetrator is a resident of Vasylivka district in Zaporizhzhia region, who joined the occupation ‘district police department’ in June 2022.

There he was appointed an ‘officer for juvenile affairs’. In this ‘position’, the collaborator fulfilled the kremlin’s task of suppressing resistance to the invaders.

The ‘officer’ was included in ‘punitive units’ that abducted local residents in the streets or from their homes.

The ruscists took the victims to torture chambers, where they were subjected to severe torture, including electric shocks.

The collaborator, together with the armed occupiers, also robbed the local homes under the pretext of ‘searches’. They stole money, clothes, office equipment and other private property.

The man was also involved in guarding the occupation ‘election commissions’ during russia’s sham referendum on the ‘accession’ of the region to the aggressor state.

However, in late 2023, he moved to Lviv as an internally displaced person from the temporarily occupied territory.

The ‘IDP’ lived at his relatives’ place and was preparing to illegally cross the border to a neighbouring EU country.

Based on the evidence, SSU investigators have notified him of suspicion under Article 111-1.7 of the CCU (collaboration).

The suspect is in custody and faces up to 15 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Zaporizhzhia and Lviv regions jointly with the National Police under the supervision of Zaporizhzhia Region Prosecutor’s Office.
