SSU and National Police detain russian accomplices who set fire to offices of Ukrainian Postal Service and relay cabinets of Ukrainian railways by order of ruscists

The SSU and the National Police detained another three arsonists in Kyiv and Zhytomyr region.

Their priority “targets” were Ukrposhta offices (Ukrainian Postal Service) and relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways).

The perpetrators acted on the orders of the russian intelligence services who promised easy money.

However, instead of money, they were detained by law enforcement.

In Kyiv:

a 16-year-old student of the Kyiv Vocational and Pedagogical College who set fire to three Ukrposhta offices in different parts of the city was detained red-handed.

To commit the crimes, the perpetrator purchased a flammable mixture, which he then poured into the premises of state institutions through the windows he had broken.

In Zhytomyr region:

two more suspects were detained for trying to set fire to a relay cabinet that regulates train traffic on a strategically important Ukrzaliznytsia line.

The arsonists are a 27-year-old drug addict and a 38-year-old repeat offender with a criminal record for possession of cold steel and causing intentional serious bodily harm.

The suspects acted together: one of them set fire to the railroad equipment, and the other recorded the fire on camera to report to the russian supervisor.

During the searches, the SSU seized cell phones, SIM cards, clothes, shoes, backpacks and canisters with evidence of criminal actions from all three detainees.

The offenders were served notices of suspicion under the following articles of the CCU:

  • 28.2, 113.2 (sabotage committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons under martial law);
  • 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property).

The operation was carried out by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Zhytomyr Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region.
