SSU and National Police detain another five arsonists who acted on russia’s orders in three Ukrainian regions
The SSU and the National Police have apprehended another five arsonists who carried out orders of russian intelligence services in several regions of Ukraine.
The perpetrators were recruited by the enemy when they were looking for quick money on Telegram.
In Kyiv:
Two arsonists aged 17 and 20 were detained in hot pursuit after setting fire to a military pickup truck. The vehicle was undergoing maintenance after combat missions in Donetsk region.
In Zakarpattia region:
Two individuals were apprehended for setting fire to the administrative building of a village council in Mukachevo district. The fire damaged a door and a window of the government institution.
After that, the attackers tried to burn a generator that powers the base station of a mobile operator. However, they were detained ‘red-handed’ when they were about to commit a new crime.
In Poltava region:
a 16-year-old girl, a student of a local college, was caught setting fire to an off-road vehicle of an AFU brigade fighting on the eastern front.
After carrying out the arsons, the agents hoped to receive money from their russian handlers, but instead received suspicion notices under the Articles of the CCU:
- 28.2, 114-1.1 (obstruction of the AFU’s lawful activities, during a special period, committed by a group);
- 194.2 (intentional destruction or damage to property committed by arson).
The suspects are in custody and face up to 10 years in prison.
The operations were conducted by the SSU Offices in Kyiv and Kyiv region, in Zakarpattia and Poltava regions jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s offices.
