SSU and National Police detain another two arsonists who carried out russia’s orders in Poltava region

In Poltava, the Security Service and the National Police have apprehended another two accomplices of russian intelligence who set fire to vehicles of the Defense Forces.

During one day in Kremenchuk, the perpetrators burned 3 SUVs belonging to Ukrainian military servicemen, who had returned to the city after combat missions at the front.

The arsonists are two local students, aged 18 and 19, who were looking for easy money on Telegram channels. There, they were approached by a russian, who recruited the young men with the promise of quick payment.

However, instead of money from their handler, they were detained by law enforcement.

During the searches, mobile phones and arson tools used in the sabotage activities against Ukraine, were seized from the suspects.

According to the investigation, the agents acted together. To look for military vehicles, they traveled around the region's settlements by buses.

Once they found potential targets, they first approved them with their russian handler and then burnt them.

The arsonists filmed their crimes on mobile phones and sent the videos to russia.

SSU investigators notified the detained individuals of suspicion under Article 114-1.1 of the CCU (obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

The suspects are in custody and face up to 8 years in prison.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Poltava region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Poltava Region Prosecutor’s Office.
