SSU and National Police detain 16-year-old FSB agent who set fire to AFU vehicles in Kyiv (video)

The SSU and the National Police have foiled new attempts by the FSB to destabilize the situation in the capital.

As a result of an operation, an agent of the russian service was detained. He was preparing a series of arsons.

The detained is a 16-year-old Kyiv resident who came to the enemy’s attention as he was looking for quick money in Telegram channels. An FSB serviceman replied to him, offering cooperation in exchange for payments.

The aggressor knowingly recruited the minor and first gave him a test assignment: to post anti-Ukrainian leaflets around the city.

After completing this ‘simple’ task, the handler promised the young man ‘big money’ for burning military vehicles.

The perpetrator was to film the arson attacks.

The FSB needed the videos to prepare info- and psyops to illustrate that arsons in Ukraine are not carried out for FSB’s money, but that there is ‘a pro-russian underground in Ukraine, which is trying to disrupt mobilization and help russia’.

When instructing the minor, the russian ‘supervisor’ said that it was not necessary to set fire to a really military vehicle, it could be any car that looked like one.

After identifying two potential targets, the asset first took pictures of them to get an approval from the russians and then set them on fire using a flammable mixture.

This was another test job for the agent. The FSB was checking his readiness to commit regular arsons in the capital.

The SSU and the National Police derailed enemy plans: the agent was apprehended in hot pursuit.

If the minor fulfilled the test assignments, the FSB promised to transfer money to his crypto wallet.

Based on the evidence, the detained individual was served a notice of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:

  • 258.2 (terrorist act, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group, causing significant property damage);
  • 114-1.1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations, during a special period).

Despite the suspect’s young age, he faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The criminal actions of his russian handler are qualified under the same Articles. The SSU has identified him. He is also suspected of involving a minor in illegal activities (Article 304.1 of the CCU). Efforts to bring him to justice are underway.

The investigation is carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of Kyiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
