SSU and Prosecutor General declare two ruscists suspects: they tortured residents of Kherson during occupation
The SSU and the Prosecutor General’s Office have collected evidence against another two russian militants who fought against our country and tortured Ukrainian civilians.
According to the investigation, they are two residents of the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region who voluntarily joined the occupiers at the beginning of the full-scale war.
Being part of the 109th rifle regiment of the 1st army corps of russia’s southern military district, they participated in the seizure of settlements in Beryslav district, Kherson region.
The traitors were also involved in repressions against local population: the invaders abducted people from their homes or just from the streets and imprisoned them.
In the jails, the victims were subjected to severe torture, including being left without water and food for long periods of time, and tortured with electricity.
As was documented by the investigators, in September 2022 the perpetrators stopped a resident of Kalynivske village and began beating him with rifle butts until the man lost consciousness. In this state, the attackers left him bleeding in the middle of the road.
The next day, the ruscists broke into the victim’s home to rob it. The man was taken to a torture chamber in the basement of another private house.
The two militants kept their victim there for almost a month, during which they tried to persuade him to cooperate with russia. To do this, they beat the prisoner and imitated his execution.
Based on the evidence, SSU investigators notified the war criminals of suspicion in absentia under the Articles of the CCU:
- 111.2 (high treason, committed under martial law);
- 260.2 (participation in unlawful armed groups);
- 28.2, 438.1 (violation of laws and customs of war, committed upon prior conspiracy, by a group).
Efforts are underway to find and bring the ruscists to justice.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kherson region jointly with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine under the procedural supervision of Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office.
