Kyiv city: SSU exposes extortion of bribes by military hospital officials from ATO/ JFO participants

SSU CI exposed the extortion of bribes by military medical institution officials from ATO / JFO participants for passing a military medical examination and obtaining disability category.

During the investigation, the scheme of obtaining various disability categories on forged documents was exposed. The worth of the services ranged from USD 1,500 depending on the disability classification.

According to preliminary estimates, the actions of the perpetrators caused damage to the state budget by more than UAH 20 m (USD 756,000).

One of the defendants was served the suspicion notice of taking a bribe and detained.

As part of the criminal proceedings, during the searches conducted at the places of work and residence of the perpetrators. From one of the persons involved, money obtained unlawfully were seized. The issue of serving other scam participants the suspicion notice of taking a bribe is to be resolved.

The operation was carried out jointly with the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Kyiv city under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv City.
