SSU opens criminal proceeding over supply of Iranian drones and missiles in russia’s war against Ukraine
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine have launched criminal proceedings to identify all those involved in supplying Iranian drones Shahed-136 and Mohajer-6, as well as short-range ballistic missiles Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar to russia.
According to the investigation, there is every reason to believe that the Iranian authorities and military-industrial complex deliberately assist russia in the war against Ukraine.
Therefore, the purpose of the investigation is to identify the persons involved, methods and routes of transporting these weapons and to hold the culprits to account.
‘Those who help russia launch strikes at peaceful Ukrainian towns and villages must also bear responsibility for russia’s war crimes. Because you cannot knowingly sell a sharpened knife to a maniac and then be surprised that he kills people. Therefore, now Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are giving a legal assessment of such assistance to our enemy. Despite russia’s attempts to disguise the Shaheds as Gerans, we will prove their Iranian origin, in particular, through examinations. We are working to tear masks off all war criminals and punish them,’ the Acting Head of the SSU Vasyl Maliuk commented.
The proceeding was initiated under Article 111-2.1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding aggressor state). The crime is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
