SSU invasigators initiated criminal proceedings for illegal elections to the Russian State Duma, which occurred earlier on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
All the participants of this event are being documented: both official representatives of Russia and Ukrainian citizens, who help aggressor state in violation the state law.
The proceeding is initiated on the grounds of a crime of high treason of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of twelve to fifteen years.
SSU also provided materials to National Security and Defense Council for imposing sanctions against organizers and participants of elections to Russian state authorities in Crimea. In particular, we are talking about 33 candidates for deputies of the State Duma and 54 members of election commissions. Last Friday NSDC made an appropriate decision at the initiative of the SSU.
“Throughout the election process, the Security Service of Ukraine has been collecting materials about the people who organize and participate in these elections. Indeed, they do not just legitimize the occupational authority, but also pose a threat to the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. They are the accomplices to an international crime”, Ivan Bakanov stated.
Since 2014, Russia has held a number of elections in the region:
- Voting for candidates to the legislative bodies of the Crimea and Sevastopol city;
- Municipal elections to the illegal authorities on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine;
- Elections of deputies to the State Duma of Russia;
- Elections of the President of Russia.
