SSU uncovers 3 caches with russian weapons and seizes grenade launchers for enemy sabotage groups near Kyiv
The SSU has uncovered three caches with weapons and ammunition in several regions of Ukraine. One of them was left by ruscists when fleeing from Kyiv region, so that the hidden weapons could be used by russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
Another cache was set up by a repeat offender who tried to sell them to criminals in western Ukraine.
The seized items include an arsenal of russian grenade launchers, over 15 kg of explosives with electric detonators, and automatic weapons.
In Kyiv region:
The SSU discovered a well-disguised cache of russian-made weapons in Bucha district.
The cache was arranged under the floor of an abandoned building in a village near the capital.
During the inspection, the law enforcement seized:
- 5 grenade launchers, including anti-tank ones;
- 12 F-1, RGD-5 and RGO combat grenades.
The weapons were hidden by the russian military during the occupation of the settlement.
When the invaders were fleeing from Kyiv region, they left the cache for their sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
The enemy planned to use the hidden weapons for sabotage in Kyiv region.
In Zakarpattia region:
The SSU exposed a convict serving a sentence in a penitentiary on arms trafficking.
The investigation revealed that before his arrest the offender had hidden an arsenal of weapons near a local quarry.
While behind bars, he attempted to sell the hidden weapons through his outside connections.
As a result of the operation, the SSU seized from the cache:
- a large quantity of TNT and plastic explosives with electric detonators;
- 7 combat grenades;
- almost 600 rounds of ammunition for small arms.
In Vinnytsia region:
an arms dealer intending to sell a russian Kalashnikov rifle, over 1,000 rounds of ammunition and a dozen combat grenades to criminals was detained. He hid the ‘trophy’ weapons in his household.
Criminal proceedings were initiated under Article 263 of the CCU (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives). Investigations are underway.
The operations were conducted jointly with the National Police under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
