SSU finds anti-Ukrainian literature in UOC-MP church shops

The SSU has blocked a channel of distribution of anti-Ukrainian literature by a network of church shops of moscow patriarchate’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The seized items include pro-russian publications that promoted religious intolerance and justified russia’s war against Ukraine.

The batches were found in Uzhhorod, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv and Kyiv on the territory of one of the UOC-MP church shop networks.

The owners of the outlets ordered propaganda literature in bulk from a printing house in Ternopil region.

An SSU-initiated forensic linguistic examination confirmed that the found copies justified russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine and contained calls for interfaith hatred and religious intolerance.

According to the investigation, the massive distribution of provocative publications could have undermined the situation in Ukraine.

Based on the evidence, the owner of one of the shops was served a notice of suspicion under Article 300.1 of the CCU (import, production or distribution of works promoting the cult of violence, cruelty, racial, national or religious intolerance and discrimination).

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Zakarpattia region jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
