Luhansk region: SSU uncovers weapon cache of saboteurs who blew up cars of Ukrainian servicemen
The SSU continues systemic counter-subversion measures in the East of Ukraine. In Luhansk region, the SSU located a hidden arsenal of ammunition for the illegal armed formations of the temporarily occupied territories.
The cache was found in a dilapidated building a few kilometers from the state border.
During the inspection of the site, the law enforcement seized over 70 RGD-5 hand grenades.
According to preliminary data, the cache was set up by a sabotage and reconnaissance group of militants involved in a series of explosions in the region. The group included an explosives expert from Russia.
It has been established that in 2015 members of this group blew up a radar station and two cars of the servicemen of the SSU and the State Border Guard Service.
In a large-scale special operation in 2018, the SSU dismantled the group. Following the SSU investigation, their leader was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all those involved in crimes against Ukraine’s state security.
The SSU Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions located the cache and seized the munitions together with the State Border Guard Service and the State Emergency Service.
