Poltava region: SSU exposes illegal storage of poisonous substances
The SSU is countering the proliferation of hazardous chemical and biological materials. In Poltava region, the SSU exposed illegal storage of poisonous substances.
The seized items included toxins and biological agents that can cause infectious diseases.
The clandestine storage facility was set up at a state-owned enterprise in the region.
The searches led to the seizure of:
a wide range of highly hazardous poisonous substances;
nearly 700 items with biological agents;
15 liters of precursors;
20 kg of chemicals of unidentified origin.
The seized items were sent for forensic examination. The security at the enterprise has been tightened.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of illegal activity and bring to justice those involved in it.
The SSU carried out the operation jointly with the investigators of the National Police in Poltava region under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office with the assistance from the regional units of the State Emergency Service and the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
