The SSU officers found a real cache of weapons and ammunition during counter-subversion exercises in Donbas. According to preliminary data, the cache was set up by Russian-backed militants to carry out sabotage in the region and resist the ATO/JFO forces.
The cache was set up in the basement of an abandoned building. The items seized include:
- 1,766 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber,
- 3 grenades for RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenade launcher,
- 2 VOG-25 grenades,
- 3 RGD grenades,
- 3 modernized unified igniter systems for hand grenades,
- 46 rounds of 12.7 mm caliber for DShK heavy machine gun.
The seized munitions were handed over to the bomb squad of the State Emergency Service for disposal.
The measures were carried out jointly with the JFO Counter-Sabotage Group of the National Guard and the National Police.
The SSU, as a nationwide counterterrorism entity, continues to work systematically to prevent and combat subversive activity in Eastern Ukraine.
On a regular basis, the Service conducts drills to practice skills of locating militants and their accomplices and takes other steps to prevent acts of sabotage.
