SBU exposes multimillion corruption
The SBU documented corruption organized in utility company Kyivbudrekonstruktsiya. The organizers are suspected of causing budget losses of over UAH 4.8 m. (USD 171,428).
SBU operatives established that one of the officials signed a contract with businessmen to mitigate landslides in Pechersk district of the capital.
Law enforcement found that the contractor received the amount stipulated in the agreement, but did not perform any work and did not purchase the equipment. Instead, the offenders entered false information about the execution of commitments in the acts of work performed. In this way, they embezzled funds.
Investigative actions have been carried out at suspects’ residences and offices. The SBU seized documentation and attached it to the case. The offender received suspicion notice of misappropriation, embezzlement, conversion of property by malversation in especially gross amount.
The operation was conducted by the SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime jointly with investigators of Pechersk National Police Investigation Unit in Kyiv city, under the supervision of Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv city.
