SSU exposes bloggers and blocks online cameras which showed operation of air defence systems during russia’s May 16 strike on Kyiv (video)
The SSU has identified six Kyiv residents who illegally disseminated information on operation of Ukrainian Air Defence Forces during russia’s massive attack on the capital.
On the night of May 16, they took unauthorized photos and videos of Ukrainian air defence and posted them on social media.
Among other things, these users recorded the consequences of hitting russian cruise and ballistic missiles. In this way, they could have revealed locations and specifics of Ukraine’s air defence system.
In a matter of minutes, these videos were picked up by numerous Telegram channels and russian propaganda Internet communities, including those controlled by the aggressor state’s intelligence services.
In addition, the SSU blocked the online cameras, which automatically recorded the operation of Ukrainian air defence system.
According to the investigation, the identified cameras are owned by several commercial entities in Kyiv.
Access to the footage was open to a wide range of ‘users’, who posted the video of the night attack on Kyiv on YouTube.
The data obtained in this way could have been used by the occupiers to adjust repeated air strikes.
During urgent investigative activities at the suspects’ homes, the SSU seized the mobile phones and computer equipment used to disseminate the prohibited content.
The SSU registered criminal proceedings under Article 114-2.2 of the CCU (unauthorized dissemination of information on sending, movement of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, transfer or deployment of the AFU or other lawful military formations, committed under martial law).
Under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation to establish all the circumstances of the offences and bring the involved to justice is underway.
Perpetrators face up to 8 years in prison.
The SSU once again emphasizes the ban to film and publish video and photo material on the Defence Forces activities and consequences of enemy strikes.
Publication of such photos and videos on the Internet is qualified as adjusting enemy fire - a crime punishable by law.
