SSU exposes Kyiv municipal guard on large-scale corruption
The SSU exposed Municipal Guard public utilities company in Kyiv on illegal activity. Over 2019-2020, the officials caused damage to Kyiv City budget worth over UAH 4,6 m. (USD 175,122).
According to the investigation, the company’s former director organized a scheme to embezzle budget funds, and his successor, the current acting director, continued the illicit activity. They stole money from the purchase of uniforms for employees involved in guarding municipal property and public order.
Over 2019-2020, the company concluded 10 contracts with a local commercial entity to supply uniforms worth UAH 15 m (USD 571,050).
The examinations estimated that the perpetrators considerably overstated the value and volumes of goods.
During the searches, the SSU seized financial documentation confirming illegal activity.
The officials have been served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation and embezzlement of property through abuse of office.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of Solomyanskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv.
