SBU exposes illegal land sale worth UAH 1.2 billion

The SBU exposed a corruption scheme in the Main Office of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre in Kyiv Region. The officials illegally transferred more than 323 hectares of land in Kyiv region to controlled companies.

The scam caused UAH 1.2 billion (USD 44 million) state losses.

The former head of the regional StateGeoCadastre department received a suspicion notice.

It was established that the official organized illegal transfer of agricultural land to business companies.

According to the investigation, the offenders unfoundedly withdrew 169 land plots near Kyiv from the ownership of the state agro-industrial enterprise and re-registered to affiliated companies.

The investigative actions are underway to prosecute all involved individuals.

The operation was conducted by officers of the SBU Main Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region jointly with investigators of the State Bureau of Investigations and under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
