Lviv region: SBU exposes deputy of village council on alienation of Ministry of Defense land (video)
SBU uncovered a deputy of the village council who organized the alienation of land owned by the Ministry of Defense in Lviv region.
SBU operatives found that a deputy, who is a member of the land commission, had colluded with officials of the Apartment Management Unit of the Ministry of Defense. They set up a mechanism of illegal alienation of 1.7 hectares of military camp land.
Afterwards, the offenders provided false data on the placement of landmarks of a protective strip and its division into the land plots of 0.08-0.15 hectares. They registered the right of ownership on figureheads and sold the land plots to citizens at the price of USD 5,000 for 0.01 hectare.
The experts estimated that the market cost of illegally alienated land is UAH 30,000,000 (USD 1,071,429).
Law enforcement officers documented the fact that the deputy re-registered documents in the notary's office, signed land sales contracts, and received USD 165,000.
Currently, SBU officers conducted over 20 searches in the offices of the village council and the Ministry of Defense, as well as at the suspects’ residences and cars. The examination of the evidence is ongoing.
Within the criminal proceedings initiated for fraud and malversation, the issue on serving a suspicion notice to all involved persons is being resolved.
Investigations are underway. Additionally, the alleged involvement of other officials in corrupt activities is being established.
The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Lviv region jointly with the State Unitary Enterprise of the National Police under the legal supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Military and Defense Sphere of the Western region.
